Plus, there's the chance to meet those who work and volunteer to protect us and keep us safe.
With demonstrations, displays, kids' activities and more - don't miss a great day out at Docklands.

Stephanie Alexander Kitchen garden @ Errol St Primary School North Melbourne

The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program (SAKGP) will begin at North Melbourne Primary School (NMPS) this term!

Hi, my name is Cathy Robinson and I am the new Kitchen Specialist for our exciting new program. The aim of the program, established by renowned chef Stephanie Alexander, is to introduce children to the wonderful world of good food.

I am passionate about good food and love preparing and sharing food.

In the program we will be creating scrumptious, wholesome, mouth watering dishes using fresh ingredients harvested directly from our fabulous garden. The children will learn to grow, harvest, prepare and share food together.

The garden will be created and tended by the amazing Tarsha Grogan, her loyal volunteers and enthusiastic children.

A typical winter menu we will be preparing and sharing might be:
  • Roasted Jerusalem Artichokes with Horseradish Mayonnaise
  • Beetroot spatzle, garlic and garden herbs
  • Curried lentils, carrots and onions with brussel sprouts
  • Orange, fennel and pomegranate salad
  • Lemon myrtle shortbread

Sound tempting?

Why not get involved as a valuable volunteer?

Imagine supporting the children in growing and preparing scrumptious seasonal food.

All you need is:
  • Enthusiasm
  • Sense of fun
  • Working with Children Check
The Working with Children Check is FREE – forms are available from the Post Office

We will provide the rest including training and support.

Just fill out the form and return it to the school or contact me, Cathy Robinson on 0407 108 901 or Georgie McInnes (SAKGP Coordinator) at North Melbourne Primary School on 9329 6902 or email north.melbourne.ps@edumail.vic.gov.au
